What a weekend
Yeah I know it's been awhile since my last entry but I've been busy. And you were warned that it could be awhile between entries. Like I last said I went to Sydney over the weekend and what a trip. I had an amazing time and saw some amazing scenery. Especially from the top of the Sydney harbor Bridge. That's right the girl who doesn't like elevators climbed to the top of the bridge. I was completely sober at the time and I was the very first person in line behind the climb leader. The next time I do it yes your reading that right the NEXT TIME I am going to do a night climb when the bridge and skyline are lit up.
I also hit the beach, two of them in fact. I tried getting to a third one but I ran out of time. 3 days is not nearly enough time. I saw lots of cool neighborhoods and cool little shops. I was good though the only thing I bought was an Australia sweatshirt.
I even got sang to while away. My climb group sang Happy Birthday to me at the top of the Bridge when they found out. Yeah I told them but during the introductions we had to say why we were climbing the bridge.
Sunday I went on a cruise of the harbor. It was good, once we got away from the main area, all they showed us at that point was who lived in what houses. It was the Australia version of the homes of the stars tour in LA, but thankfully that was only the first few minutes, and then we got to see other more secluded parts of the harbor. Once back on land there were tons of street performers. Although I didn't see the homeless people there like you do in Toronto and other major cities.
Sydney is a very unique city. It seems like it should be at odds with itself. There is a definite distinction between the old and new parts of the city. But yet somehow it isn't. Everyone gets along and the city is at peace with itself. It was very interesting to observe. The people are great. Everyone is so friendly. I will definitely be back at some point in time.
