Things you Remember

Isn't it strange the things you remember without even knowing you remember them. This morning as I was walking into the gym my trainer met me with the news that there had been a school shooting overnight in Canada. Had I heard about it? At that point I hadn't I had been up about 15 minutes at that time and hadn't checked my email. He had a few sketchy details, he had heard part of the report on the radio when he was in the car. As we were talking I heard them say on the TV that they would be offering a new update. He and I both went tearing through the gym to the TV to see what was happening. As we were watching it, the only thing I was able to do was to utter the name of the shooter from 1989. I'm not saying his name here because I feel that it would be glorifying what he did. The point is that I didn't even know that I had remembered his name until faced with a similar situation. Like I said earlier the things you remember without knowing that you remember them.

Just like in 1989 I know that the community (not only Montreal, but also Canada) will not only come to terms with this but will be able to turn this tragic event into a positive memorial for the young woman who was killed. Also remember that not only Canadians all over the world but the world, has you in our thoughts.
