November

It is always Novemeber when my computer decides that it has had enough and doesn't want to play anymore. At least this time when it decided to quit I had saved copies of my papers so I didn't lose them like the last time.

Imagine if you will. 6:15 am turning the computer on and nothing happens. You are on the other side of the world from where the computer was bought so you can't even take it to them and yell at the salespeople to fix it. Thank God for international warrenties. But I still had three hours to stew before I could get ahold of anyone to try and fix it. I finally got ahold of the call centre which tells me to try this, that and another thing to get it to work. No such luck. It's still dead. But never fear the nearest service place is only 7 kms away. WWWOOO HHHOOO or so I thought. I went to my contacts here to see where this place was only to be told that the suburb I was told it was in no longer existed. Great this morning is getting better and better. And I have to get the computer there within 3 days or else I have to recall and reregister my computer and problem. I have classes on and off all day with only 2 one hour breaks before 4. So time's a tickin'. Anyway Friday morning arrives and it's off in a cab trying to find this place. Well we found it, it turns out that the suburb has been aborbed into another one. The call centre just hadn't updated their computer. So I get there give them the information that the call centre had given me just to find out that they don't have the part and that it is on backorder. The good thing was that they recieved the work order from the call cecntre yesterday and realizing that they didn't have the part they ordered it before I even got there. But as it is now Friday the part wont be in until Monday and that is assuming that the problem with the computer is what they think it is and that is the part they need. Somebody asked me why didn't I just take it to the computer department here and have them take a look at it instead of all the hassle with trying to find this place in the suburb that doesn't exist anymore. It would have been much simplier. Yes and No. Had I gone here and they had looked at the computer and couldn't fix it. The warranty would be void and I would be screwed, blue and tattooed as my High School Chemisty teacher use to say.

Now here we are and history is repeating itself. It is Novemenber I have a paper due and a dead computer. Thank goodness for school computer labs that are open 24 hours a day. And that I backed up my paper to my removeable E drive.

Thanks for reading this rant. I feel much better. Now it is time to sign off and finish my paper.
