These Crazzie Aussie

I wish these crazzie Aussies would get their act together. As you all know this weekend is when you set your clocks back. Since I am in the opposite hemisphere we have to spring forward. Although like Saskatchawan Queensland doesn't change. In fact the only state that does change here is NSW,sorry New South Wales. The state that Sydney is in. This is because it is easier for all of the international business activity that occurs there. So needless to say those people that work at the school but 20 minutes south of here have to wear two watches for the next 6 months. I'm glad I live on campus. It's hard enough trying to keep the time zones straight without having to battle two here as well.

Not only do I not get that potential extra hour of sleep this weekend,I was so looking forward to it :-), but there is no Halloween here. With the exception of the one guy who got halloween candy sent to him from both his mom and girlfriend there is none to be found anywhere. Although all of the Canadians have been benefiting, as it looks like his mom and girlfriend bought out the entire Manitoba suply of candy.

As well, the entire country shuts down on Tuesday afternoon. None of the stores are open past noon and if you had an appointment for that day it has to be rescheduled. All for a horse race. The topic of conversation at areobics today was the Melbourne Cup. I thought I was going to be burnt at the stake when I asked what the Melbourne Cup was. Then they remembered that I was Canadian and didn't know any better. I thought that it was rugby and I couldn't figure out why all of the women were going absolutely ape-shit over a rugby game. They explained that it is THE horse race of the year. Even bigger then the Kentucky Derby, as far as I could tell from what they were saying. Everyone gets right involved with it. The women use it as an excuse to get all dresed up in their big hats, to go to the pub and "enjoy the race". Read that as a justification to get absolutely hammered. I was told that the pub on campus is opening up early that day so if I get the chance I should pop in and see what it is all about.

Like I said those Crazzie Aussies.
