Trying to stay Dry

It's done nothing but rain for two days. I've been in jeans, sweaters, socks and REAL SHOES for two days now. They are calling for rain until Monday and then it's to clear up for Tuesday. But as the entire nation is shut down by noon on Tuesday, assuming anything is open that morning. I think the weather forecasters know better to then to say that it is going to rain that day. Tuesday is Melbourne Cup day. The running of it is the official start to the racing season. It's also the official indicator that summer is here. So I guess it's a combination of the Kentucky Derby and May 24 Weekend. A lot of people call in sick to work on Monday so they can start partying over the weekend. Today the one TV channel had 61/2 hours of coverage about not only the upcoming race but also some of the initial preraces from the track.

I should get back to work, the nice thing about the rain is that it theoretically makes for a good homework day.
