Marathons, Meetings, Papers, Presentations and Aussie Definations
I can't believe how long it's been since my last entry. Needless to say it's been a busy month.
I participated in the 8km walk at the Gold Coast Marathon again this year. I haven't been to the gym since the middle of April and I still cut over 7 minutes off my time compared to last year.
One day last week I was catching up with a classmate to have a conversation about a paper I'm writing. When asked what I was up to I said that I was on my way to 'a meeting'. During our conversation his phone rang a couple of times to which his response was that he would have to call them back as he was in...'a meeting'. I love how versatile that word is, although my first thought when I heard him use the term was how pretentious us farm kids had become. He too came from a 'little' farm down south. It should be noted now that little equal 50,000 hectares.
Papers - I had to write 3 papers in 8 days, a 1500 word and 2 3000 words, all for the same class. I also had 24 hrs of lecture for that class in 4 days.
Oh yeah, I also had a presentation on the 1500 word paper for that same class.
Thank goodness thinks are starting to slow down. I just have to write a 10,000 word paper in the next nine days.
I've also signed up to do a 10km run in the beginning of September. It's going to be interesting. I haven't run since before Christmas. Tuesday night was the first training session, well second but I couldn't make it last week. I 'ran', well ran and walked 3km in just over 20 minutes. So not as bad as I had thought. I don't know who was more impressed with my time me or the guy running the session.
