Finally
Since I didn't have a computer yesterday, I couldn't do any work. So I decided that it was about time I finally went to the beach. While there are several around here I went to the main one which is Surfer's Paradise. Surfer's, as it is known here, is an interesting place. Imagine Bloor St/Rodeo Drive/5th Avenue meets Clifton Hill meets the Vegas Strip meets the Chicken Ranch. And for an additional extra little spice through in a few stereotypical Drag Queens wandering around the town. Oh yes, I can't forget the town clock at noon plays Come all yee Faithful. Like I said it is an interesting place.
At the beach I saw some lovely and not so lovely scenery. Everyone was either in a speedo or a g-string bikini. Even people who should not be wearing them were. Other then myself I saw one other woman in a one piece bathing suit. There were a few guys in bathing trunks like we know them, but those were the guys surfing and they are all covered from neck to knees to cut down on irritation from the surfboard.
The water was a little cool still yet, if you went any deeper then about ankle deep. At that level it was about 20C so not to bad this year in the season. (it's still considered spring here summer doesn't arrive until the 1st of Dec) Once you got out past ankle depth though it was much colder. But then again the Pacific Ocean is the largest body of water in the world so it's going to take a little while to warm up.
All in all I had a great time at the beach. I definitely will be back, though I will have to save my nickels and dimes (there are no pennies here) in I want to do any shopping there.
Hope you guys are having fun trying to stay warm.
