Conversations with Me

I never realized just how many dumb people there are in the world. I'm not talking about trying to solve world peace or finding a cure for cancer. I'm talking about everyday concerns. The majority of people are unable to think anything out. I am surprised that these people are able to get out of bed and dress themselves in the mornings.

Lately I have spend more time trying to explain common everyday things to people then I have done anything else. Like I said, it's not rocket science, its simple things like imperial to metric conversions. This is a popular one as there are so many Americans here and neither the Aussie's or Americans know how to convert to the other measurement.

Another popular explanation is the election. This one is really infuriating as Oz as the same parliamentary setup as Canada. Although it hasn't been just Australians who I've been explaining Canadian parliamentary policy too.

There is a common misperception that people who get into law school are smart and politically minded. This is not the case. I can't believe the conversations I have had about basic Canadian parliamentary setup with supposedly smart people.

I know that there is a difference between being book smart and street smart and that if you are one you are not the other usually. But these discussions have been with supposedly book smart people.

Needless to say it's been an interesting week. I hope next week isn't as interesting as I have a tonne of reading to get caught up on.
