Observation

Don't take this as a complaint it's an observation.

The old adage Distance makes the heart grow fonder is true. I have had more contact with my family and friends since moving here then when I was in the same province. It seems like everyone is wanting to 'get in good' with the lawyer, so that

a) I'll be more likely to help them when they need legal help, or

b) They don't want to piss off the lawyer, or

c) They were taking advantage of me (by figuring I'd always be there) until I was no longer there

For the record, as I will not be immediately qualified to practice in Canada the only information I can provide is general hypothetical information. I cannot be held liable for any information I give in regards to the Canadian Judicial System until such time as I am qualified to practice there. As for option c) all I can say is that while it may be human nature to take advantage of those you care about, we really shouldn't do this as you never know when they're not going to be around anymore. But it seems like this is being considered for as I mentioned earlier I have recieved a marked increase in the number of corespondences from the Great White North.
