Sharks Attacks and Skin Cancer
When people first found out I was coming here they felt compelled to warn me about the high rates of skin cancer and shark attacks. I was also warned about all the forest fires here. So far there has been no shark attacks or forest fires where I am. Instead it's been Cyclones (well Cyclone) There has been one brewing off the North Queensland Coast (about 400km from where I am) all week. The pond has flooded again. Today going to class my umbrella got blown inside out, and by building is surrounded by 3 inches of water. I have been cold and wet all week. My tan has faded, I am almost as pale as I was for those of you who saw me at Christmas. But being cold, wet and pale is about the extent of the damage where I am. It's been really windy and the palm trees have lost most of their fronds but that's it. Like I said earlier the storm is about 400 kms north of where I am so all I am getting here is the outer fringes like what Ontario gets when the tornados go through the south. But as this is the biggest thing that's happened the last 3 days it's getting posted here. Hope you guys are staying warm and dry.
