Christmas in July

Yeah I know, marketers use that as their ploy to drive up sales. But in this case it really is Christmas in July. I was at the mall today (July 19th), Kmart had their Christmas bears out and signs all around advertising layaway promotions on toys. Target had a tonne of toys ready for their pre-Christmas sale, all with lay away options. Target even had Cabbage Patch Kids. They were $100. I just about crapped. I saw them at Walmart last year for 35. Yeah I know the Canadian dollar is worth more then the Australian, but even then, it still doesn't justify 3x's the cost. I then saw that they were Cabbage Patch Twins, so that means $50 a doll. Which I suppose is a little more reasonable. But just barely. No wonder all the stores have their Christmas toy sales in July with lay away options. You need 5 months to be able to pay for them
