Lots and Lots of Odds & Ends

Well, I finally found a placement. It's with a criminal firm and I started on 1 Sept. That's been the majority of life for the last couple of weeks. Trying to get use to expectations and new personalities.

The one case I was working on finished at least for the moment on Friday and another one starts on Monday. That trial starts in a couple of weeks and is to run for a couple of weeks so the next month is just going to fly by.

The good thing is about working in Brisbane is that there is like 3 gyms with a ten minute train ride of the office so I have no excuse for not getting my butt in there.

The thing that I'm having the most difficulty adjusting to is the high heels. Especially given that most of downtown Brisbane is paved in cobblestones. The other day I ended up threatening my shoes that if they didn't stop getting stuck in the gaps in the cobbles I was going to throw them in the Brisbane River. Thankfully it looks like I"m going to be in the office all next week so I can get away with flats. WOO-HOO!!

My computer acted up a couple of weeks ago and I got the official word today that it's dead and it will be cheaper to get a new computer then to fix the old one. And that's assuming that they could even find a compatible motherboard because it's so old. The only good thing about it was that they are able to save the information from it. That's great because when this happened with my desktop I lost EVERYTHING!! So the fact that they were able to save the information off of it is great. I had a momentary meltdown at the thought that I may have lost every assignment and piece of research I had done since coming to law school. So all in all it could have been much much worse.
